3 minute read

If you're looking for a natural remedies for hair loss, pea sprouts may be worth considering.

Pea sprouts, also known as pea shoots, are the young, edible shoots of the pea plant.

They are rich in nutrients such as protein, vitamins, and minerals, and have gained popularity as a superfood in recent years due to their low caloric value and high nutritional benefit.

Pea sprouts are high in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, fiber, and folic acid, and they are more nutritious than peas themselves. T

hey are also bursting with antioxidants, which protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.

It's no surprise that this nutritionally-packed superfood is now being touted for its potential topical benefits as well.

So, how might pea sprouts be a natural hair loss remedy? The hair growth cycle consists of three phases: the anagen (growth) phase, the catagen (transitional) phase, and the telogen (resting) phase.

During the anagen phase, which can last for several years, the hair grows and becomes longer.

The catagen phase is a short transitional period in which the hair follicle shrinks and the hair shaft is pushed up to the surface of the scalp.

The telogen phase is a resting phase in which the hair follicle is dormant and the hair falls out.

A new hair begins to grow in place of the old one, starting the cycle over again.

As we age, our hair follicles can get smaller and the anagen phase can become shorter.

This can result in the production of thinner, finer hairs that are more prone to breakage and falling out.

The net result is that we experience thinning hair and eventually hair loss.

There is some evidence to suggest that pea sprout extract may help to address this process by shortening the telogen phase and allowing for a longer anagen phase.

In a study published in Mibelle Group Biochemistry, 78% of participants saw an increase in hair density after using pea sprout extract for three months.

Another study found that pea sprout extract increased the number of hairs in the anagen phase and reduced the amount of hair lost at the end of the telogen phase.

Pea sprout extract may also help to promote hair growth by increasing the expression of fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF7), a protein that is involved in hair growth.

In a study published in the Journal of Dermatological Science, researchers found that treatment with pea sprout extract significantly increased the expression of FGF7 in hair follicles.

So, how can you incorporate pea sprouts into your hair care routine? One option is to use a hair care product that contains pea sprout extract as an active ingredient including: shampoos, conditioners, and scalp treatments.
